Its really worth it to walk up and enjoy the city view!

This place is gorgeous. Definitely recommend you coming up here. I came during summer and winter and both were extraordinary. I recommend taking the bus up and walking down during summer. As for winter you should take the bus up and down to be safe. The bus only cost ΓΒ₯200 which is quite cheap. You should start from the observatory and walk down to get the best experience and view. Try the chocolate biscuit ice cream too it is amazing. The chocolate ice cream is thick and milky, it is not too sweet as they use organic cocoa powder, so it has a hint of bitterness. The milk is extremely creamy and delicious. it is a bit expensive (ΓΒ₯500)/($6) but I would buy it as it has really high quality ingredients. Have fun coming here but if you wanna buy stuff I recommend bringing a bit of cash as the stuff is a little overpriced

Personally think that night view during winter night is just alright, but not worth the price of ΓΒ₯1000++. Because the lighting of the houses was not much, the view from the observatory was quite limited. Perhaps daylight view would be better during a bright day. The way to the top would take about 20mins walk but elderlies might need to stop now and then for a quick catch of breath. No sitting nor rest area for people who are tired from walking uphill. The place to take a picture was quite dangerous if people are standing near the fence during rainy day since the ground was uneven. The observatory ground at the top only has 1 or 2 lamp posts, not bright enough to light up the whole observatory area at night if there are many people there. Along the way there are enough lightings, security guards and observatory staff, so people would feel safer to go even at night.

Breath taking view, though we have a snow fall when we visit, its still a beautiful place.

It provides a nice view of Shirakawago Gussho village from the hill top. There is a nice walking path that leads into the village so some tour buses stop the tourist to walk from there. There are toilets and souvenirs shops available. Best of all parking is free.

Definitely worth the walk-up. Do take the shuttle bus if you are travelling with children or elderly family members

Nice view. ItΓ’β¬β’s too bad they rope off the area where the fence is so that you HAVE to buy a photo from them in order to get a decent shot of yourself with the houses in the background down below. ThatΓ’β¬β’s not cool

Absolutely adore this place! Very steep climb to get here, but it was definitely worth a visit!! Great day trip and great ice cream! The visiter centre at the top of the lookout is awesome too. The staff there are friendly too! :)

Small hike up the mountain (about 15min) that gives really good views over the old town. Can get busy with tourists. On top there is something to eat and vending machines. You can have your picture taken here as well.
